From Joshua Moshe: Shemesh is the Hebrew word for sun. Like in many ancient cultures, the sun has significance in Jewish life, thought, and mysticism. I wrote Shemesh in response to some of the harrowing stories of oppression and survival of my ancestors. However, it is important to shed light on the feelings and channel them in a way that might be used to improve oneself and the world around me. During chemotherapy, I very consciously drew on such stories to inspire me to be resilient and survive what I was going through, so that I may be able to spread more light into the world through music.
